Tamarind candy/ Imli sweet

         For Notalgic feeling, you can try my imli candy recipe. You can feel your childhood especially for people in India. In my childhood, we used to buy imli candy, mango pickle, honey ball, jaggery candy, etc.

         Here I made imli candy. It is very tasty and easy to make. Your kids will love this.

  What does tamarind candy taste like?

           The Tamarind is best described as sweet and sour taste. Tamarind is high in tartaric acid, sugar and vitamin B.Here I used tamarind and jaggery to make tamarind candy. You try and send me your feedback.

Is tamarind acidic or alkaline?

           Tamarind is acidic, but only weakly acidic. Its acidic nature is because of the presence of tartaric acid.

           I made tamarind candy. It is made up of using tamarind paste and jaggery We can mold into different shapes. Either we can wrap it on tip of icecream tick or wrapped in a plastic wrapper twisted at each end.

           It is somewhat soft, sour, chewy tamarind candy. If it overcooked it will become harder. So when you prepare to make the candy take care of becoming overcooked.

Ingredients for  Imli sweet

• Tamarind 
• Jaggery
• ghee
• pickle powder

Preparation of Tamarind candy/ Imli sweet

• Put the tamarind in a bowl and soak with hot water.  

• After one hour remove all the seeds make tamarind into a paste by grinding together

• Pour this paste into a strainer and work the mixture through the strainer a much as possible.

• We will get nice and smooth strained thick tamarind paste.

• Add jaggery into a saucepan over medium heat.

• When it gets boiled add tamarind paste, 1/4 tsp pickle powder, 1 tsp ghee.

• Stirring on a regular basis at medium flame until about 1/3 of the liquid is evaporated.

• After getting it cool we can make different shapes and taste it.
