English alphabetical order

  • Now we learned that the English alphabet starts with the letter ‘A’/ 'a' and ends with the letter ‘Z’/ 'z'.This order is known as alphabetical order.

For example, to write a list of names in alphabetical order we start with names that start with ‘A’. Then the names start with ‘B’.

Alice
Ben
Charlie

If more than one word begins with ‘A’ we put them in order according to the second letter and then the third letter and so on.

Example:

Alice
Annie
Ben
Chacon
Charlie

We use alphabetical order for many purposes to sort the list. In dictionaries, Book content, Telephone directories, etc. It helps the reader to find the name or title of the list easily.
